The Carnival of the Animals project: 2024-2025
Each class from Reception to year 6 had the opportunity to work with the Mercury Theatre for drama, music and movement. The reel below shows some highlights:
School Council art competition on the theme of 'Carnival of the Animals'
And the winners are...
EYFS and KS1: Isla, year 1 (elephant sculpture)
KS2: Jessica, year 5 (music and animals panorama)
Have a look at what each class has been up to in their Carnival of the Animals journey. Each class chose a piece (or two) from the suite of 14 movements. They used these to inspire creative arts and cultural experiences.
Year 6 - Birds
Acrylic pouring paints to create birds. Nihal's mum came in to show us how to do it and the results are amazing!

Exploring aquarium scenes through close observations using watercolours.
Year 4 - Birds
Sculpture using newspaper, masking tape and wire
Sketching with pencils
Year 3 - Swans and donkeys
Creating clay tiles (fired in a proper clay oven) to form a whole class swan image
Swans and donkeys - sketches with pastels
