Purpose of Study:
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in physically demanding activities and competitive sport. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help embed values such as fairness and respect.
Who is a Lexden PE student?
A PE student at Lexden is confident in the basic skills of physical co-ordination, throwing, catching, batting, running and movement. They have experienced and learnt how to play a wide variety of sports including the ability to evaluate performances and use tactics to improve performance. The Lexden PE student is flexible, fit, strong and agile and can apply a range of skills to a variety of games and activities. They understand and apply the principles of sportsmanship in both competitive and collaborative activities and know why exercise and activity is important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They understand the link between physical and mental health and aspire to live an active, healthy life.

- Development in all aspects of physical education encourages an active, healthy lifestyle and promotes happy and healthy learners.
- Broad range of sports and activities used to promote physical development as well as engage and interest learners.
- External sports coaches and trips used to improve knowledge and expand opportunities for sporting excellence.
- Involvement in the CPSL – the local schools’ sporting league – to allow students to experience competition and apply the skills they have learnt.
- An increasingly wide range of extra-curricular sporting activities and opportunities to participate in e.g. orienteering competitions, multi-skills festivals and boot camp style fitness clubs.
